A short bio on Urban Terror

Urban Terror, often called UrT, is a multiplayer freeware first-person-shooter developed by FrozenSand in 2000. In 1998, work was began on a mod for Quake III, which would eventually become UrT. It took Quake III and added some modern weapons, maps, and skins to the gameplay, and in late 2000 Urban Terror was launched as an official Quake III mod. In 2001, Beta 2.0 was released, and in 2003, Beta 3.0 was out. After some off and on work, Urban Terror was legally released as a stand-alone game (and not just a mod) in 2007, which was also version 4.0. The current played version of UrT is 4.1, however Urban Terror HD Alpha 1.0 test was released in 2010, featuring new maps, weapons, gameplay, and skins (and not to mention an entirely new game engine).
